Tandem ejtőernyőzés / Skydive in Kaikoura
The sky was blue and there were no clouds when we woke up… Just a perfect day… Perfect day for what???
I offered a lift to ChCh for Jo, but there was one thing I wanted to do before we left. To be honest I’d had it in my mind for a while (since last year when I was in Taupo). When I came back to NZ I said: “This time I just have to do it! No excuses!” I thought it would be great to finish my holiday with it, perhaps in Kaikoura (?).
Jo came with me and supported me on the way. I had an appointment at 11 am, however I needed to wait more than an hour. It was just sooooooo long! I was excited and anxious. Nervous a little bit, but not as much as I thought I would be.
Jo has had the experience, he just said: “You will love it, Edit!”
Kék volt az ég és egyetlen felhő sem volt látható, amikor felébredtünk… A legtökéletesebb nap… De mire is???
Felajánlottam Jo-nak, hogy elviszem Christchurch-be, de előtte volt még valami, amit meg akartam csinálni. Hogy őszinte legyek, már régóta a fülemben volt a bogár ezzel kapcsolatosan (ha jól emlékszem mióta Taupo-n voltam). Amikor visszajöttem Új-Zélandra, azt mondtam: „Most mindenképp meg kell csinálnom! Nincs kifogás!” Azt gondoltam, micsoda jó lenne ezzel fejezni be a nyaralásomat, talán épp Kaikoura-n (?).
Jo eljött velem és lelki támasz volt. Délelőtt 11-re volt időpontom, bár több, mint egy órát kellett várnom. Nagyon hosszúúúúúú volt! Izgatott voltam és kicsit feszült is. Ideges is egy kicsit, de nem annyira, mint amennyire először hittem, hogy az leszek.
Jo már tapasztalt volt a témában, ezt mondta: „Imádni fogod, Edit!”
And then it was time… Cas was my instructor, he explained everything from the very beginning…
És eljött az idő… Cas volt az oktatóm, elmagyarázott mindent az elejétől…

We boarded the aircraft, and once again I had to show him what to do just before we (I mean he) jump out.
Felszálltunk a repülőre, de előtte még egyszer meg kellett mutatnom, mit kell csinálni, amikor kiugrunk (illetve Cas ugrott, én csak hozzá voltam csatolva.)
The 20 mins flight was spectacular! I saw the mountains with snow on the top, turned my head the other side and there were the peninsula and the beautiful sea. The plain reached 9000 feet, he opened the door, I put my legs out and I had no time (not even a second) to think about anything… No fear, no anxiety, nothing. Just found myself in the air, falling down towards the ground with a speed of 200 km/h. The wind was cutting my face, had a little pain in my ears, and just enjoyed the freefall for 20-25 secs. Cas opened the parachute and we could talk again. Yeah! I just can’t describe the view and my feelings. You have to experience it!
20 perc alatt értünk fel kb 3000m magasságig, a látvány fentről lélegzetelállító volt! Láttam a havas hegyeket az egyik oldalon, a félszigetet, meg a csodás tengert a másikon. Cas kinyitotta az ajtót, én kitettem a lábaimat és időm sem volt gondolkodni (még egy másodperc sem)… Nem volt félelem, nem volt szorongás, semmi. Egyszer csak a levegőben találtam magam, 200 km/h-s sebességgel zuhanva a föld felé. A szél vágta az arcomat, a nyomás miatt kicsit fájt a fülem, de 20-25 másodpercig élveztem a szabadesést. Cas kinyitotta az ejtőernyőt és megint tudtunk beszélgetni. Igen! Szavakkal nem lehet leírni sem a látványt, sem az érzést. Meg kell tapasztalni!

Végső állomás / Last destination – Kaikoura
Jo & L (both from France) were my room mates at Adelphi Lodge in Kaikoura. Their friend, S (UK) and 3 of us went for an afternoon walk on the peninsula. At least the weather was much better, we had lovely sunshine (sun cream in the bag again) and the sea was soooo blue!
Jo & L (mindketten Franciaországból) voltak a szobatársaim a kaikoura-i Adelphi Lodge-ban. Egy barátjuk, S (Anglia) és mi hárman elmentünk sétálni a félszigetre délután. Legalább az idő sokkal jobb volt már, sütött a nap is (naptej megint a táskában) és a tenger csuda kék volt!
Jo and me were talking quite a lot, and he said he was writing a blog on the Internet too. You can follow him and his adventures in NZ here. By the way, everybody who is travelling writes a journal, but not many people choose to share their adventures with others on the Internet. It’s nice to read other people’s trips, opinions and experiences – I think.
Jo és én elég sokat beszélgettünk, ő is blogot ír az interneten. Ha tudsz angolul vagy franciául, itt olvashatod az új-zélandi kalandjait. Mellesleg mindenki, aki utazik, ír egy naplót, de kevesen vannak, akik meg is osztják kalandjaikat másokkal az interneten. Nekem tetszik, hogy mások írásait, utazásait, véleményét és tapasztalatait is ily módon nyomon követhetjük.
On the way back to the village, we saw a seal in the bush. He was posing: “Look at me tourists!”
A faluba visszavezető úton láttunk egy fókát a bokorban. Nekünk pózolt: „Ide nézzetek turisták!”
We planned to go out in the evening. There was an Irish pub opposite to the lodge, where we stayed. I was excited, as it was my last “travelling-evening” and glad I had such a nice company there! I knew JML was coming to Kaikoura on this day as well, so invited him to the pub too.
Azt terveztük estére, hogy elmegyünk kocsmázni. 🙂 Volt egy ír kocsma a szállással szemben. Én egész lázba jöttem, mert ez volt az utolsó „utazós-estém” és nagyon örültem neki, hogy ilyen jó kis társaság verődött össze. Azt is tudtam, hogy JML ugyanezen a napon ért Kaikoura-ba, így őt is meghívtam, hogy tartson velünk.

L & S were both playing harmonica, which was amazing!
L&S mind a ketten tudtak szájharmonikázni, nem is akárhogy!
As the evening went by, we all got more excited (drunk – not for Hungarian translation) and enjoyed the live Irish music very much. Later on JML’s room-mate joined us too, P (Germany).
Ahogy mentünk bele az éjszakába, mindannyian egyre jobban extázisba jöttünk (az asztalon ugyan nem táncoltunk), és nagyon élveztük az élő ír zenét. Később JML szobatársa, P is csatlakozott hozzánk (Németország).
S had beautiful singing voice, so she helped out the Irish man 🙂
S-nak gyönyörű hangja volt, kicsit kisegítette az ír énekest 🙂
I personally enjoyed my day very much. Lovely place, fantastic people, great music and lots and lots of fun together. No, I didn’t want this night to be over. I didn’t want my travelling to be finished. I didn’t want to say goodbye to anyone. I didn’t want to go to bed… But something was waiting for me on the following morning.
Személy szerint nekem egy csuda jó napom volt. Kedves ír kocsma, fantasztikus emberek, nagyszerű zene és sok-sok nevetés. Nem, egyáltalán nem akartam, hogy vége legyen az éjszakának. És azt sem akartam, hogy véget érjen az utazás. Nem akartam elbúcsúzni senkitől és nem akartam lefeküdni sem… De valami várt rám a következő nap reggelén.

Szeles Picton és a keleti part / Windy Picton and East Coast
Our (AA & me) next and last destination was Picton. We had a quick look around in town: went down to the Quay and I realized Picton was windy as much as Wellington, on the North Island! (Or even more…)
A következő és egyben utolsó állomásunk (AA és én) Picton volt. Gyorsan körülnéztünk a városban: lementünk a partra és egyből szembetűnt, hogy Picton éppolyan szeles volt, mint az északi szigeten Wellington! (Vagy még jobban…)
Posted 15 postcards 🙂 Not as many as last year, but sorry, don’t be surprised if this time you don’t receive one… I tried to send some to those, who didn’t receive my postcards last year or I didn’t send one at all.
Feladtam 15 képeslapot 🙂 Nem olyan sok, mint tavaly, bocsi, és ne legyél meglepődve, ha idén neked nem jutott… Próbáltam azoknak küldeni, akik tavaly nem kapták meg, vagy azoknak, akiknek egyáltalán nem is küldtem.
AA stayed in Picton for another night then went to the North Island by ferry, so we said goodbye and wished good luck to each other. I was heading to Kaikoura on my own (again), but on the way there stopped in Blenheim (i-site) to book accommodation. Blenheim was not really a touristic place, but quite nice.
AA ott maradt Pictonban még egy napot, aztán ment az északi szigetre a komppal, így búcsút vettünk egymástól és kívántunk sok szerencsét a jövőre. Úton voltam tehát Kaikoura-ra (megint egyedül), de megálltam Blenheim-ben az i-site-ban, szállást foglalni. Blenheim nem éppen egy turisztikai látványosság, de azért egész szép kis hely.
Oh… the rain again… The rain and the wind became good friends this afternoon, so unfortunately I couldn’t really enjoy the view of the East Coast. Stopped once to have a break on the beach, but I was scared to sit in the car, as it was extremely windy and nearly pushed my car away from the road! Decided to carry on my journey towards the South. By the time I got to the Ohau Point to see the seal colony, it was SLIGHTLY better, but still awful.
Óóó… és megint az eső… Az eső és a szél jó barátok lettek ezen a délutánon, így sajnos nem igazán tudtam élvezni a keleti part csodáit. Egyszer ugyan megálltam egy rövid szünetre, de elég félelmetes volt, ahogy a szél majdnem arrább dobta a kocsit a parton, szóval úgy döntöttem, jobb, ha inkább úton vagyok dél felé. Mire az ohau-i fóka-kolóniához értem, egy HAJSZÁLNYIT jobb volt az idő, de még mindig szörnyű!
Kaikoura! I have been waiting for you for a while… And here I am!
Kaikoura! Már mióta várok rád… És itt vagyok!
