Vízesések Milford Sound-nál / Waterfalls at Milford Sound

Milford Sound (3) is one of the most visited places in Fiordland. You can see hundreds of waterfalls from the sea. There are boat cruses, you can kayak or tramp. Lots of tracks. The weather wasn’t on our side, so we did the boat trip 🙂

Milford Sound a Fjordland egyik leglátogatottabb helye. Több száz vízesést lehet látni a tengerről. Lehet itt hajókázni, kajakozni, túrázni, stb… Mivel az idő nem a mi oldalunkon állt, mi az elsőt választottuk.

In the morning we left at 6.20, because our cruise was scheduled at 8.55, we had to be there at 8.40 to check in. Of course it was raining again, but we were not able to see anything in the dark on the way there. We arrived half an hour earlier, but had a little snooze in the car 🙂 In the end we needed to run to the harbuor to catch our boat.

Reggel 6.20 körül indultunk, mert 8.55-kor indult a hajónk, tehát 8.40-re mindenképpen ott kellett lenni a becsekkolásra. Persze az eső megint esett, de a sötétben amúgy sem láttunk semmit a tájból. Időben megérkeztünk, így még egy fél órát bóbiskoltunk a kocsiban 🙂 Amiből aztán az lett, hogy futni kellett a kikötőbe, nehogy lekéssük a hajót.

I have to tell you, taking photos in the rain and being out on the sea: it’s not easy. (Not for me anyway.) I could only take photos, like this:

Azt el kell, hogy mondjam, esőben, hullámzó hajóról fényképezni nem valami egyszerű. Hát ilyen képek lettek:

People say, it’s much nicer, when it rains, as there are more water in the rainfalls. I think I would have preferred a nice sunny day with less water. 🙂 At least we had a little bit of blue sky!

Az emberek azt mondják, hogy szebb, ha esik az eső, mert akkor több víz van a vízesésben. Nekem azt hiszem a napos, kevesebb vizes változat jobban bejön 🙂 Azért volt némi kék ég is!

Fortunately neither A nor me got seasick. When it was over, on the way back to the car we saw a rainbow, but it didn’t last long…

Szerencsére se A sem én nem lettünk tengeri betegek az utazástól. Mikor kiszálltunk, a kocsihoz visszafelé vezető úton láttunk egy szivárványt is, bár nem sokáig tartott…

We were planning to stop at several places on the way back to Te Anau to take photos and have do some walking. When we got to the first place, it started to rain. We thought we could wait a bit, because the weather changes very quickly. Had our lunch in the car, little chat, took some photos, and met a nice German couple who were on the same cruise as us.

Úgy terveztük, hogy Te Anau felé megállunk majd pár helyen, és túrázunk meg fotózunk. Az első helyen amikor ki akartunk szállni a kocsiból, eleredt az eső. Gondoltuk várunk kicsit, mert az időjárás elég gyorsan változik itt. Megettük a szendvicseinket, beszélgettünk, majd csináltunk pár fotót, és találkoztunk egy kedves német házaspárral is, akik szintén ott voltak a hajón.

We were just about to leave, when I turned the engine on, but it didn’t work at all… (unknown reason) Fortunately the road was very hilly, so we just had to turn the car back. Some guy was going to explain what to do (2^nd gear, etc…) when I said I was quite experienced, so no needed to do it so. 🙂

I was going down on the hill, but the engine didn’t want to start. When the road was flat, I pulled the car over to a bay and got out. I started to stop other cars from both directions, and some people did stop, but they didn’t have jump leads. I couldn’t even call the others, because there was no signal! Happy end, he was my hero:

Már indulni akartunk tovább, amikor a kocsi csődöt mondott, se kép, se hang… (ok ismeretlen) Szerencsére az út elég hegyes-dombos, így csak menetiránnyal ellentétesen kellett a kocsit állítani. Az egyik srác már kezdte volna magyarázni mit kell csinálnom (kettesbe rakni, stb…), amikor mondtam, hogy viszonylag tapasztalt vagyok ebben 🙂

Elindultam a lejtőn, de a motor nem indult. Amikor az út már egyenes volt, félrehúztam, és kiszálltam. Próbáltam az úton jövő autókat megállítani mindkét irányból, és volt aki meg is állt, de sajnos indítókábel senkinél sem volt. Telefonálni sem tudtam a többieknek, mert térerő sem volt azon a helyen. De aztán mégiscsak volt egy hős, aki megmentett, íme:

We had to say goodbye to our plan (to do tracks), because I had to drive 30 mins at least to get the engine work properly again. That was the time, when we got to the Mirror Lakes.

A túrázás innentől fogva elmaradt, mert fél órát vezettem, hogy az akku feltöltődjön, amikor elértünk a Mirror Lake (Tükör Tó)-hez.

We went to a coffee to have some hot chocolate and spent 5 hours there, girlie chats about jobs, holiday, NZ, and of course boys. (OK, we also had some soup!)

Te Anau-ban beültünk egy kávézóba forró csokizni, meg kb. 5 órát beszélgettünk mindenféle dolgokról (munka, nyaralás, Új-Zéland, pasik, stb…). (Na jó, később ettünk főzeléket is!)

Later on A & me had to say goodbye as well, because on the following day I had to carry on my trip on my own.

Aztán mi is elbúcsúztunk (A & én), mert másnap egyedül folytattam utamat.

Túra és kincskeresés / Walking and treasure hunting

In the morning I had a lovely chat with C’s mum, than I had to go back to the „Sign of the Kiwi”, as the day before I wasn’t sure I was at the right place to find the treasure. 🙂 Actually I was, but I couldn’t find it (perhaps someone else did) 😦 Never mind, at least I saw the sea.

Reggel még csuda jót beszélgettem C anyukájával, aztán vissza kellett mennem a „Sign of the Kiwi”-hez, mert előző nap nem voltam biztos benne, hogy a megfelelő helyen voltam. Persze a kincset nem találtam (lehet más valaki vitte el!) No, de legalább láttam a tengert.

I was heading to the North, as A said she really liked Hamner Springs and I was curious too. However I chose walking instead of a nice hot thermal pool. It was raining a little bit, but it wasn’t too bad. Of course the fog and the clouds were stubborn, didn’t move at all. I had my waterproof trousers in my rucksack (?), but by the time I wanted to put them on, it was tooo late… More rain and I was soaking wet. I was running back to the car.

Utamat északra vettem, A mondta egyszer, hogy neki nagyon tetszett Hamner Springs, így hát elmentem én is. Fürdőzés és kényeztetés helyett a túrázást választottam. Kicsit esett ugyan az eső, de nem volt vészes, persze a köd vagy a felhő továbbra sem oszlott. A táskámban (?) lapult a vízálló nadrágom, de mire észbe kaptam, hogy felveszem, már mindegy volt, zuhogott és én bőrig áztam… Az utat a kocsihoz futva tettem meg.

From here more treasure hunting towards Lewis Pass. According to my map I did find the place, but the message in a bottle was replaced by a capsule.

Innen további kincskeresés következett, a Lewis Pass felé. A kincskereső térképem szerint megtaláltam a helyet, de a nekem szánt üzenetet valaki kicserélte erre…

I got back to ChCh by 7.30pm, had supper with C’s dad, was on the Internet for a bit and then fall asleep.

Este fél 8 körül értem vissza Christchurch-be, C apukájával vacsiztam, majd némi internetezés után elaludtam.

Második rész / Part two

As I promised, the fun continues, but this time my goal is to explore the South Island of New Zealand.

This year, I did not have to have the emotional support from A to click on the appropriate button when I was booking my flight; selected a flight, as when I go to Hungary, and I easily booked it. This is the way how to do it 🙂

This time the stopover will be in South Korea, Seoul Incheon Airport. Unfortunately, the outward journey does not allow me to look around the city, but I wouldn’t miss it on my way home.

So why New Zealand AGAIN? I have already been there!

• Anyone I met who has been both on the islands, said that the South Island of NZ was much nicer than the North one. That’s why. (Is it true?)
• I have been to New Zealand, but I’ve only seen half of the country (?).
• Many of my friends did not receive my postcards (eg, my brother, T &T; K; I, – though this one was sent to a wrong address …), so here is another option to make up the post offices’ and my negligence! (This is a good reason!)
• I wonder how life is going in Christchurch a year after the earthquake.
• And who knows, maybe a message in a bottle will be waiting for me somewhere on the South Island …

Ahogy ígértem: a móka folytatódik, ezúttal azonban Új-Zéland Déli-szigetének felfedezése a cél.

Idén már nem kellett lelki támogatás A-tól, hogy ráklikkeljek a repülőjegy foglalásánál a megfelelő gombra, kiválasztottam a járatot, mint mikor Magyarországra megyek, és egyszerűen lefoglaltam. Így megy ez 🙂

A megálló ez alkalommal Dél-Koreában lesz a Seoul Incheon Repülőtéren. Sajnos az odaúton nem lesz szerencsém körülnézni a városban, majd csak hazafelé jövet.

Hogy miért MEGINT Új-Zéland? Hisz’ már egyszer voltam ott!

• Bárkivel találkoztam, aki járt mindkét szigeten, mindenki azt mondta, hogy a déli sziget még az északinál is sokkal szebb. Leginkább ezért. (Ez igaz?)
• Igaz, voltam Új-Zélandon, de csak az ország felét láttam.
• Többen nem kapták meg a képeslapjaimat (pl. a bátyámék; T&T; K; I; – bár ez utóbbit rossz címre küldtem…), szóval itt egy újabb lehetőség bepótolni a posta és jómagam trehányságát! (Ez nyomós ok!)
• Kíváncsi vagyok milyen az élet Christchurch-ben egy évvel a földrengés után.
• És ki tudja, lehet, hogy egy palackba zárt üzenet is vár rám majd valahol a Déli-szigeten…
