Eyefull Tower & Hot Water Beach

Sajnos a Napot megint esőfelhők takarták, így a kilátás is korlátozott volt, de azért jó móka a vonatozás.

Coromandel town is located 3 km away from another popular tourist attraction: Driving Creek Railway. Built in 32 years, a gentleman, called Berry Brickell dreamed about it and worked on it, who was a potter and a rail enthusiast. Clay pots were originally transported by the rail, but today only carries visitors up the Eyefull Tower.

Unfortunately, rain clouds covered the sun again, so the view was limited, but the train was really good fun.

Délutáni programom viszont az eső miatt tényleg meghiúsult: lóháton bejárni a Coromandel félsziget egy részét. Sajnos aznap csak nekem jutott ez a fura ötlet az eszembe… 😦

My afternoon program was cancelled due to the rain: to explore a part of the Coromandel Peninsula on horseback. Unfortunately, on that day only I had this weird idea in my mind… 😦

Elmentem a szállásomra, ami talán az egyik legjobb hely volt, az elmúlt 3 hét alatt, de sajnos fénykép nem készült, egész egyszerű oknál fogva: elfelejtettem. Megint egy 4 ágyas szobában voltam, de ez alkalommal egyedül, lakótárs nélkül. (Tiszta, barátságos és kedves hely, bár azért mégiscsak voltak hátrányai is: a zuhanyzáshoz zsetont adtak, ami 6 percre biztosított meleg vizet. Rá kellett jönnöm, nekem 6 perc zuhanyzás bizony nem elég…. Sőt, takarót sem adtak, bár azt kölcsönvettem egy másik szobából.)

I went to my accomodation, which was perhaps one of the best places in the last 3 weeks, but unfortunately, no photo was taken, the reason is quite simple: I forgot to. Again, I was in a 4-bed room, but this time on my own, without any roommate. (Clean, friendly and charming place, however it still had disadvantages: the shower only worked with a token, which provided hot water for 6 minutes. I had to realize, it wasn’t enough for me…. Even worse, no blanket was provided, although I borrowed one from another room.)

Aztán annyira elkényelmesedtem, hogy egy jó két órát sikerült is aludnom, mint a bunda… Este újra útra keltem, az apály 7.30-kor volt, így még az előtt ott akartam lenni a Hot Water Beach-en (Melegvizes Tengerparton). A nevét onnan kapta, hogy a felszín alatti lávaréteg felmelegíti a felszín alatti 2 patakocskát, ami a tengerpart 2 pontján tör a felszínre. Ha gödröt ásol ezen a helyen, élvezheted a saját termálvizes medencédet. A víz hőmérséklete 64 Celsius.

Az emberek pedig viszik a lapátukat, ásnak és élvezik a meleg vizet.

Then I was so comfortable, and I managed to sleep a good two hours, like a log… In the evening I went out again, the tide was out at 7:30 pm, so I wanted to be on the Hot Water Beach before that. You can read more about Hot Water Beach here.

Tengerparti móka / Beach fun

Bár korán keltünk, mégsem indultunk időben a Muriwai beachre. Viccesen hangzik, de a többiekre vártunk, akik – mint később kiderült – már rég’ ott voltak!
Azért nagy nehézségek árán, de sikerült a dagállyal megbirkózni és 20-30 km/h-s sebességgel átküzdeni magunkat a laza tengerparti talajon. Mert ha itt beragad egy autó, azt bizony elviszi az ár…És mi azt valahogy nem akartuk!
Megtaláltuk a többieket, és egy tisztáson, a lejáratnál letáboroztunk, sátrat vertünk, ebédet sütöttünk (illetve a fiúk, mert Sz és én csak a szemeinket legeltettük a kaján amíg elkészült), majd svédasztalnál el is fogyasztottuk!

Although we woke up early, yet we didn’t leave for Muriwai Beach on time. Sounds funny, but we were waiting for the others, who – as it later turned out – had already been there!
So with some difficulties, but we managed to cope with the tide and drove with a speed of 20-30 km/h on the loose beach sand. If you get stuck in a car, the tide will take it … And somehow we did not want that!
We had found the others, and stopped and stayed at the entrance of the beach, tent up, baked lunch (only the boys, because Sz and me were just watching the sausages until they were done), then we all had it!

Itt kell megemlítenem, hogy életemben nem láttam még pasikat ilyen sok módon kinyitni a sörös üvegeket. Használtak kést, kampót, másik üveget, biztonsági övet és egyéb kocsi alkatrészeket, meg még ki tudja mit…

Később a nap is kisütött, a tenger is visszahúzódott medrébe, így aztán sátorbontás és le a partra! A reggeli 20-30 km/h-s sebességet felváltotta a 100, holott itt is van sebességkorlátozás, csakúgy, mint a főutakon, méghozzá 60 km/h. Csak kamera nincs. Helyette mi kameráztunk elég sokat…

A tengerpart „vége” jobb oldalon homokdűnékben folytatódott, amit quad-dal sem, de autóval sem lehetett kihagyni! Néha a fejem búbja találkozott az autó tetejével, de leginkább a hasam és az arcom fájt a sok nevetéstől.

Az úton hazafelé volt csak hányingerem…

It must be noted that I’ve never ever seen guys to open a beer bottle so many ways! They used knives, hooks, another bottle, seat belts and other car parts, and who knows what else…

Also the sun came out later on, the sea moved back, so tent down and back to the beach! The morning 20-30 km/h speed was replaced by 100 km/h, however the speed limit here is 60, as well as on any main roads. But there are no cameras here. Instead, we used our cameras a lot …

The beach on the right side continued with sand dunes. It could not be missed by either quads, neither cars! Sometimes the top of my head met the car’s roof, but most of all my cheeks and my stomach hurt a lot because of the laughter.

I was only feeling sick on the way home…

Auckland Múzeum és “görbeszombateste” / Auckland Museum and late Saturday night

Szombaton már reggel nagyon felhős volt az ég, és egész nap esett; hol jobban, hol kevésbé… Így aztán szinte az egész napot arra szántam, hogy megnéztem az aucklandi múzeumot. Több órát elbarangoltam, ott legalább mindegy volt, hogy esik-e vagy nem…

On Saturday morning the sky was very cloudy, and it was raining all day, sometimes more, sometimes less … So I spent almost the whole day inside the Auckland Museum. I was looking around, spent several hours there, at least there was no matter, whether or not it was raining …

A legjobban egy földrengés-szimulátort találtam érdekesnek és megdöbbentőnek. Egy nagy szobába kellett bemenni, ami egy nappalinak volt berendezve; a sok-sok vendég nézte a tv-t, ahol közvetítés volt a Sky Tower-ből és épp egy vulkán volt kitörőben, amit még az ablakból is lehetett látni. A Tv-ben azt mutatták hogyan evakuálják a várost. A tenger először gőzölgött, majd forrani kezdett, és a vulkán kitört a tengerben, közel a parthoz. A földrengést a szobában is lehetett érzékelni. A kép, ami utána maradt a városból, hátborzongató…

The most interesting and shocking thing I found in the museum was an earthquake simulator. We had to go into a large room, which was furnished as a living room, the guests watched TV, which was broadcasted from the Sky Tower, and a volcano was beginning to erupt, yet we could also see it from the window. The TV showed how the city was evacuated. First the sea was steaming, then began to boil, and the volcano erupted in the sea near the shore. The earthquake was also detected in the room. The image, which then remained from the city, was creepy …

A Domain Auckland legrégibb parkja, van egy csodás téli kert is benne, szép virágokkal.

The Domain is Auckland’s oldest park, it has a beautiful winter garden, with lovely flowers.

Az estét Z-éknél töltöttem, kisebb partyt szerveztek a szombat este kedvéért.

I spent the evening at Z’s, they organized a small party because it was Saturday night. 🙂

Későn mentünk aludni, bár reggel korán kellett kelni a dagály miatt…

We went to bed late, but had to get up early in the morning because the tide was coming out…
